Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information RateQ collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to rateq.qa and related RateQ services.

01Who we are

RateQ is a bilingual company review platform operated in Qatar. We help customers find and rate businesses, and we help companies present their profiles, projects, and replies to reviews.

For privacy questions, contact us at support@rateq.qa or through the Contact page on this website.

02Information we collect

We collect information you provide and information generated when you use RateQ.

  • Account details: name, email, phone number, password or Firebase sign-in data, language preference, and profile photo.
  • Company profiles: business name, description, categories, address, map location, contact details, logo, cover image, documents, social links, services, and projects (including photos).
  • Reviews and replies: ratings, titles, review text, proof files, company replies, and reports about reviews.
  • Resolution details: when a negative review is sent for resolution, the company may receive reviewer contact details so they can try to resolve the issue.
  • Technical data: IP address (stored in hashed form where used for abuse prevention), device or browser information, and similar security signals.
  • Support messages: name, email, phone, subject, and message when you contact us.

03How we use information

We use personal data to operate RateQ, keep it trustworthy, and communicate with you.

  • Create and manage reviewer and company accounts, including email and phone verification.
  • Publish approved company listings, projects, reviews, and replies on public pages.
  • Moderate content, detect abuse, and handle review reports.
  • Run the review resolution process for negative reviews, including notifying companies and reviewers.
  • Send service emails (verification, password reset, moderation decisions, resolution updates).
  • Respond to contact requests and provide customer support.
  • Improve safety, prevent fraud, and comply with applicable law in Qatar.

04Reviews, profiles, and what is public

Approved reviews, approved company profiles, and approved project images can appear on public RateQ pages and may be indexed by search engines.

Pending, rejected, withdrawn, or deleted reviews are not shown on public company pages. Company dashboards may still show active resolution requests so the business can respond.

Display names and avatars associated with published reviews may be visible to other users. Do not include sensitive personal data in review text or proof files that you do not want published.

05Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the platform.

  • Service providers that host RateQ, send email, store files (including Firebase Authentication and Storage), and operate infrastructure such as databases and job queues.
  • Companies, when a review is published or when resolution requires contacting the reviewer.
  • Our administrators, for verification, moderation, and support.
  • Authorities, if required by Qatar law or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of RateQ.

06Cookies and similar technologies

RateQ uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed to keep you signed in, remember language and theme preferences, and protect the service.

If we use optional analytics in the future, we will update this policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect login or other features.

07How long we keep data

We keep account, company, and review records for as long as needed to provide RateQ, handle disputes, and meet legal or security requirements.

Withdrawn or rejected reviews may remain in our records even when they are hidden from public pages. You may ask us to delete an account; some information may be retained where we must keep it for law, moderation history, or fraud prevention.

08Your rights

Depending on Qatar’s Personal Data Privacy Protection Law and other applicable rules, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion where that is legally available.

You can update much of your profile information from your RateQ dashboard. For other requests, email support@rateq.qa. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

09Children

RateQ is intended for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

10Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, hashed identifiers where appropriate, and moderation of user-generated content.

No online service is completely secure. Please keep your login details confidential and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of RateQ after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12Contact

If you have questions about privacy, contact RateQ at support@rateq.qa, by phone using the number listed in the website footer, or through the Contact page.
